USA vaihtaa perjantaina 0-4 numeroin nelinpelit hävinneestä koostumuksestaan kolme pelaajaa. Eurooppa luottaa samoihin pareihin lauantain ensimmäisessä osiossa, jonka pistejakauma voi muodostua jo lähes ratkaisevaksi lopputuloksen kannalta.
Ryder Cupin ensimmäisenä päivänä jaettiin vasta kahdeksan pistettä 28:sta. Lauantaina on edessä samassa järjestyksessä 4+4 nelinpeliä / nelipalloa.
Euroopan joukkue tarttui perjantaina aamulla tukevalla tavalla ottelusarjan ohjaimiin oltuaan neljässä ottelussa 36 pelatun reiän jälkeen jo 11 up.
Kaikki neljä peliä ratkesivat Euroopan eduksi jo ennen viimeistä reikää.
Tätä taustaa vasten on hyvin ymmärrettävää, että USA tekee nelinpelikokoonpanoihinsa kolme muutosta.

Sam Burns, Rickie Fowler ja Collin Morikawa saavat lepovuoron.
Tilalle tulevat Brooks Koepka, sekä nelipalloa yhdessä pelanneet Justin Thomas & Jordan Spieth.
Eurooppa jatkaa samoilla pareilla, joita peluutetaan kuitenkin eri järjestyksessä.
USA:n joukkueessa ison vastuun saavat Justin Thomas & Jordan Spieth.
Vastaan asettuvat molemmat pelinsä voittanut Rory McIlroy ja iltapäivällä levännyt Tommy Fleetwood, jotka voittivat perjantain yhteisen nelinpelin.
Euroopan parivaljakko tullee olemaan kenttäpelissä, etenkin avauksissa ja pitkissä lähestymisissä USA:n paria edellä.
Mitä lähemmmäksi reikää peli etenee, sitä paremmin Thomas & Spieth pystyvät vastustajiaan horjuttamaan.
Ennakkosuosikin rooli on tässä ottelussa niukasti eurooppalaisilla.

Åberg täytti perjantaina hienosti ruutunsa, mutta debytantin turnauskestävyyttä koetellaan lauantaina jo huomatttavasti isommalla kädellä, kun vastassa ovat maailmanlistan ykkönen Scottie Scheffler, sekä viisi majoria voittanut Brooks Koepka.
Ottelu Shane Lowry & Sepp Straka vs. Max Homa & Brian Harman on ennakkoon täysin pyöreä, kummankaan parin voitto ei olisi yllätys.
Aamujakson finaaalipelissä Jon Rahm & Tyrrell Hatton vs. Patrick Cantlay & Xander Schauffele voidaan eurooppalaiset luokitella perjantain esitysten perusteella suosikeiksi.
Nelinpeleissä yhdessä menestyneet Cantlay ja Schauffele olivat avauspäivän suurimpia pettymyksiä.
Aamun yhteisen voittonsa lisäksi Rahm & Hatton saivat iltapäivän otteluissaan hyvän spiritin säilymään.
Nelinpelit käynnistyvät klo 8.35 Suomen aikaa. Jakson tuloksen ennustaminen on todella vaikeaa. Sillä onko tulos Euroopalle esimerkiksi 3-1, tai samoin luvuin USA:lle on kuitenkin valtavan suuri merkitys kokonaisuuden kannalta.
