Seniorien kauden viimeisen majorin finaalikierros käynnistyy sunnuntaina Royal Porthcawlin kentällä Walesissa Alex Čejkan (par) johtaessa lyönnillä. Kirittäjäkseen hän saa ensimmäistä Senior Openin voittoa tavoittelevan Padraig Harrington (+1)
Senior Openissa pelattiin lauantaina kierros, jollaista ei PGA Tourilla tai PGA Champions Tourilla ole pelattu sitten kauden 2008. Yksikään pelaaja ei alittanut paria. Kierroksen keskiarvo oli oli kovassa tuulessa 76,14.
Kärkeen kiilasi Saksan Alex Čejka, jonka ainoat PGA Champions Tourin voitot ovat kahdesta USA:ssa pelattavasta majorista. European Tourilla Čejka voitti neljästi, joista kolme kaudella 1995.

”Tuuli on kovaa, pelaaminen haastavaa, mutta rakastan tätä. Juuri tällaisellä kelillä tämä (Royal Porthcawl) ja links-kentät yleensäkin ovat parhaimmillaan”, Harrington muistutti kierroksen aikana antamassaan haastattelussa.
Kuluvalla kaudella kolmessa pelaamassaan miesten majoreissa cutin selvittänyt Harrington nosti itsensä Scottish Openin aikaan jopa ehdokkaaksi Ryder Cupiin pelaajan roolissa.
Se unelma ei toteudu, mutta sunnuntaina Padraig Harrington pistää kaikkensa peliin nostaakseen palkintojenjaossa Senior Openin voittopokaalia.
